David Clemens
David Clemens is 21 years old and resides in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. He is presently the Goldeneye Champion. He is known throughout the Goldeneye community, not only for his remarkable play, but also for having a great amount of disrespect towards his competition, particularly including Rayan Isran, Ryan White and Wouter Jansen.
Before The Elite
David became very interested in speedrunning Goldeneye in 2006 after watching many World Record videos. He obtained Depot Agent 0:26 as his first WR and in late 2006 joined The Elite.
Joining and Acceptance
David first joined with the user ELITE Samedi, who made posts on the elite message boards which were highly illegible and resulted in large amounts of flaming. He was widely rejected by the elite community, but due to his lack of interest in the elite outside of Goldeneye, he continued to come around and post his Personal Records. His high percentage out outlandish statements per reasonable post cause many eliters to believe that he is perhaps fake, however meeting with Bryan Bosshardt and Eric Tapini has nullified these rumors. Since the board user ELITE Samedi, David has also used DrugAgainstAngst, Bizarre Triangle, D N Clemens, David Clemens and finally settled with David N Clemens. He is currently ranked 2nd for most pseudonyms as an eliter next to Dan Peterson.
Early Goldeneye Career
Shortly after becoming a member, he achieved more of the common WRs such as Runway Secret Agent 0:23, Surface 1 A 1:03 and Archives A 0:16. This was quickly followed by a pair of 55s on SA/00. The first sign that he was destined to push beyond the more widely obtained WRs was after he obtained Bunker 1 00 1:08. Only two other players (Jim Barrett and Ilari Pekkala) had posted this time previously, and only Bryan Bosshardt and Wouter Jansen had better. A month later he had tied Bryan and Wouter with 1:07.
Rise up the Ranks
In April of 2007, David achieved his first untied World Record, which was Surface 2 00 1:28. This went untouched for the majority of 2007, until Henning Blom matched it in December, and shortly after beat it with an impressive 1:27.
Following Surface 2 00, David made a name for himself as he went on to tie a several of Bosshardt's personal records over the spring and summer, eventually achieving several other untied WRs including Surface 2 SA 0:53 and Bunker 1 00 1:04 which are still untied.
After tieing several more existing WRs towards the end of the year, David went on a spree in the Winter, untieing WRs all over the place. He got a pair of Archives 54s on SA/00, shortly after getting Bunker 2 SA 0:46 (2 second untied at the time), Aztec SA 1:38 (though he eventually got 1:36), Aztec 00 1:43 (no longer a WR or his PR), Control SA 4:10 (now 4:07), Caverns SA 1:20 and 00 1:37, Dam 00 1:57, Surface 2 00 1:26 and Bunker 1 SA 0:21
His most recent and one of the most maxed WRs in GE, was Egyptian Agent 0:45.
Number One
Due to the recent increase in strictness towards the proof policy brought on by Ryan White (see: Goose#Controversy_and_Departure) and due to David Clemens and Bryan Bosshardt not meeting these proof qualifications, it is very difficult to determine the exact date David passed Bryan as Goldeneye champion. The most accepted date on which David passed Bryan for first place is February 9, 2008, when Bryan Bosshardt made a topic about this achievement. It is believe that the record which was completed to give Clemens the upper edge was a mediocre personal record of Facility 00 Agent 0:55, however since neither player was fully ranked during a large span of time due to their proof issues, it could have been any of Clemens' Personal Records between January 1 and March 1, 2008, which gave him first place.
David continued to rise past Bryan, but so did Rayan Isran. These two are in constant competition, obtaining untied world records frequently, to which the other player will tie the record in a only a few days. Some examples of this phenomenon are Silo Agent 1:02, Control 00 Agent 4:11, Control Secret Agent 4:07 and Surface 1 Agent 1:02.
Currently, David Clemens has 43 World Records; 7 of which are still untied.
Outside Gaming
David Clemens has almost no interest in the elite outside Goldeneye. He very rarely initiates in conversation with non-Goldeneye players on AIM, and is even more sparsely seen in the elite chatroom. He has stated that he does not care at all about the 2008 Elite Summer Contest, or any Elite Summer Contest at all because "the people who vote don't care about GE and don't know what they're talking about."
Outside of the-elite, David has a strong interest in Meteoroloy, music, movies and nature. His favorite bands are New Order, Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, Assemblage 23 and Christian Death. His favorites movie series is Indiana Jones and he also has a small scale interest in archaeology. He also hates everything popular including all sports and all pop music.
