Fernando Moritz dos Santos
Fernando Moritz dos Santos is a top MKDD karter. He also played MK64. He is currently ranked #18 in MKDD, #142 in MK64, and #30 on the Combined Kart Ranks.
Arguably his most-famous achievement on MK64 was beating the WR in Wario Stadium Shortcut. His lap of 2'44 used the mushroom-jump for the second wall, a strategy which was already widely known; but Fernando used Bowser, so it was the first in a long time that a heavyweight held a record on the site. His time was beaten later by Myles Bukrim and Greg Ihnatenko using the same tactic.
Moritz is a past champion in MKDD. He took the top spot from Alex Penev in May 2004, and played in 60Hz. He traded the championship with Paul Tanney and David Grard through October, when he finally lost it for good. Altogether, he has been #1 for 92 days in total, which is still the 4th highest in the history of the game.
Moritz is known for his support of 60Hz and dislike of 50Hz, enough so that he argued for having two separate sites. He was upset when he was beaten by 50Hz players, which some think is an easier version of the game because of the slower speed. He removed his times from the site in protest, but he has since rejoined, and started playing in 50Hz himself. His rank slipped during his time away, but then climbed back up towards the top 10 in his comeback.
Outside of Mario Kart, Moritz plays piano and has showcased his skills with some video-game songs.
