The 2014 Karter Contest is the Mario Kart community's sixth Karter Contest, following in the tradition of the highly successful 2004, 2006, 2008 ,2010, and 2012 contests.
Hosted jointly by Shock and Lafungo, it features 112 well known karting personalities made up of the 21 Message Board moderators and admins, and 91 nominees as nominated by the Mario Kart community.
Prior to Round 1 starting, the 112 karters, mods, and admins were seeded. This was done by community members PM'ing the hosts a list of 10 of the nominated entrants ranked 1-10. Via a scoring system based on these lists, a seed list was drawn up.
The top 16 were given a bye into Round 2, and the remaining 96 were drawn into 24 groups of 4. The top 2 of each group qualified for Round 2, where all matches (and in subsequent rounds) are 1v1 knockouts.
