Marc Rützou at age 18

Introduction

Marc "InkosiDeVinyl" Rützou (Full name: Marc Aagaard Rützou) (better known as Inky) Born 1992, from Denmark (English/East European father, Danish mother), is an Eliter and who is best known for getting an untied world record on Aztec before he even beat any of the other 19 levels in Goldeneye and is one of the most talented gamers the speedrunning community has seen.

Marc age 9 or 10. (baby sister to the right)

Early Life

Other than being average in school, playing a lot of soccer, playing outside in general wich the average kid usually do, Marc was also known for his insane gaming skills and anyone who dared challenge him, usually had to face the lost. There was already some trace of speedrunning in Marc's early life when he mainly played Goldeneye, Super Mario 64, Turok and Tekken. He would see how fast he could get 70 stars and then try to improve it even more. After trying out a lot of Turok, he managed to beat it in a single day. However, his most memorable days of gaming was probably Turok 2. Marc always loved a good challenge so it didn't get any better than this. Marc joined a gaming club at his school when he was in 4th. grade, playing Tekken mostly. He went to win a lot of tournaments and even participated in a Danish Tekken 4 tournament at the age of 9 and made it to a nice 4th. place. It took Marc some time to find out he got to take a picture on Bunker 1 and what to do with the Goldeneye key, but he got stuck for a few years on Statue because of Marc's bad english. He then started to play Goldeneye with an older friend, Martin. They would always celebrate when Marc finally beat one of the hard levels such as Train and Aztec though Martin took care of Jungle and the ending of Caverns. Some of Marc's best times at that time was Facility 00 Agent sub 2:00, Runway Agent 0:27 Around 2:30 on Silo Agent and Archives 00 Agent 1:16

Introduction To The Elite

In many years he was quite unactive as for what gaming goes, but it wasn't until the age of 16 Marc discovered The Elite by an accident. He heard about the new SM64 glitch wich allowed you to finnish the game with only 16 stars. Through SM64.com he found Ilari Pekkala and soon discovered his DLTK videos on Youtube. Watching the Facility world record without being impressed at all, he immediately became interested in Goldeneye speedrunning. He said to Eddie Lovins wich had the untied world record of 1:47, that he would cake his time. For Eddie this was just another Youtube noob, but Marc told he got 1:58 and Eddie kindly convinced him to join The Elite. This took place somewhere in April/May 2009. Marc didn't really have any ambitions in the Normal League as he thought he wasn't good enough.

The Beginning And Proof Controversy

After a lot of hours invested, Marc tied Eddie Lovins with Facility DLTK 1:47. (He later untied it with 1:44 and pushed it down a second more to 1:43) He switched to the 1.2 control style quickly, tried out Normal mode and to his suprise, quickly achieved decent times such as Dam Agent 0:54, Dam SA 1:19, Facility Agent 0:48, Bunker 1 Agent 0:18, Silo Agent 1:09, Depot Agent 0:26 and Aztec Agent 1:34 wich he got first try in a session. However, there was a small debate going on the boards, if Marc was a legit person and doubted his times where actually real as he hasn't provided any proof. Marc had taped almost all his times though, but haven't found a way to get them online. He finally borrowed a good digcam and provided proof for his times 30. July 2009, one day before the Swedish Goldeneye meeting 2009 was going to take place.

Marc's room

Swedish Goldeneye Meeting 2009

Without almost no practice in multi except playing Bunker 2 a little, Marc Participated in the Swedish meeting wich lasted from 31. July - 2. August where he met Ilari Pekkala, Miika Pekkala, Eise Smit, Trent Hovis, Patrik Nilsson, Axel Zakrisson and Henning Blom. He played against Henning in the first round and lost 10-9 in the 3rd. and final match in Archives and lost to Ilari Pekkala in a 3rd. match aswell 10-6, wich also was in Archives. The 2nd. match between them both was Bunker 2 and Marc won them both. Marc duped Silo Agent 1:09 at the meeting and tried a lot of Aztec Agent aswell. Having problems with the glass door on NTSC and having some deaths, Marc didn't succeed to lower his 1:34.

Aztec Domination

Shortly after the Swedish meeting, Marc finally got Aztec Agent 1:32. Being very unsatisfied with the run, after few hours of contribution, he achieved Aztec Agent 1:31 as a world record. Even though 1:31 took him a short amount of time, going from 1:34 to 1:32 still took over 70 hours. 5 days later, David Clemens (The current Goldeneye champion) told him about a little new timesaver and the very same day, Marc achieved Aztec Agent 1:30 as an untied world record. Clemens tied it the next day. He eventually got SA 1:38 and 00A 1:43 very quickly. He later tied Aztec SA 1:36, wich used to be a 2 seconds untied by Clemens. Today, Marc stands as 2nd. on the Aztec leaderboards and is planning to hit his second untied very soon. (Aztec Secret Agent 1:35)

Further Improvement And NTSC Arrives

Marc Decided to push it to the next level and played for even better times. Still only having access to a ((PAL)) system, he achieved times such as Bunker 1 DLTK 2:06, Dam SA 1:18, Silo Agent 1:04, Bunker 2 SA 0:52, Jungle Agent 0:52 and Caverns Agent 1:02 wich was a world record and a PAL untied. Marc ordered a NTSC copy of Goldeneye and immediately achieved Dam 0:53/1:17/1:59 when it arrived. Marc who was whelming with confidence at this moment, pushed his gaming to the next level wich would prove he is among the best GE player in the world.

Aztec Secret Agent 1:35

Following Activity

He achieved such times as Jungle Agent 0:51, Bunker 2 Agent 0:24, Bunker 2 SA 0:47, Silo Agent 1:02, Silo SA 1:11, Control Agent 3:59, Facility Agent 0:45, Dam 00A 1:58 and tied Ilari with Jungle SA 0:54 and Rayan Isran with Jungle 00A 0:55 wich makes Marc a very dangerous player and Marc himself is confident, that he is a threat to Bryan Bosshardt who is currently ranked 3rd. He then Achieved what would be his greatest time so far, Aztec Secret Agent 1:35 as his 2nd. untied world record. He then sweeped Surface 1 with 1:02/1:49/1:50 in very few hours over 2 days.

3rd. untied record and Train Domination

8th. August, Marc achieved Bunker 2 00 Agent 0:58 as a world record, wich would push Clemens to untie the level with 0:57. Not long after, he nailed 54/54 on Archives and finally succeded to provide proof for Archives Agent 0:16, making it his first 300 points stage although he failed to provide proof for Archives SA 0:54. A couple of days later, a quick and lucky Frigate Agent 0:23 and Frigate Secret Agent 1:02 (TNS) a week later. Marc says himself "It's really some bullshit this run wasn't 1:01. Never had a 1:02 fail with that music, only a couple of times maybe. Invested 50 hours and got a no time saved. Horrible level..." A few days later he finnished off Surface 1 with 1:49 on 00 Agent making it his 2nd. 300 points stage. A week later, Dam 00 Agent 1:57 wich was of course untied by Clemens with 1:56 a couple of days later. The 4th. October, Marc tied Clemens with Bunker 2 00 Agent 0:57 with missed warp twice and then untied it with 0:56. Yet again, not really suprising, Clemens untied it with a lucky 0:55. After his first break in GE, Marc went on a spree and tied all 3 untieds wich was set on Train. Tied Rayan with 1:25/1:51 on SA/00A very quickly and Clemens with 1:00 on Agent wich Clemens set in late July, making it his 3rd. 300 points stage. Most recently, Marc PR'd with Bunker 2 Secret Agent 0:46 wich was his goal for a very long time.

Dam Secret Agent 1:16

Untie Rampage

Since Train Agent 1:00 in November it seemed like Marc took another break from GE, until Marc released his video of Train Agent beaten in 00:59 on 31th. December. It was one of the last barriers to be broken except for 00:59 on Frigate Secret Agent wich is possible in theory, but it's many levels above 00:59. After lots of hours invested, Marc finally tied Clemens with 1:56 on Dam 00 Agent. It was to Marc's own suprise that he untied it with 1:55 the very next day, wich he knew was possible before he even got 1:56. 3 days later Marc achieved what has always been his dream and has even claimed the time impossible for a very long time and also by numerous of other players. 1:16 on Dam Secret Agent. 5 years after one of the best GE records that was ever set, wich was 1:17 in 2006 by Ilari Pekkala.

Perfect Dark

While playing a lot of Goldeneye in the year 2009/2010, Marc also speedrunned Perfect Dark on the PAL system just for fun to begin with, but has played more seriously in 2010. Some of his best times achieved was Villa Agent 1:12, Attack Ship Agent 2:11, Escape Agent 2:29 (Later 2:26 and 2:25), Escape Special Agent 3:23, Chicago Agent 0:16 and recently achieved Investigation Special Agent 2:15, Escape Agent 2:24 (Untied PAL record), Escape Special Agent 3:20, Rescue Agent 1:29, Rescue Special Agent 3:23, Villa Agent 1:11 and Villa Special Agent 1:19 in a very short time.

Personal Life

Marc loves watching sports such as World Cup and Euro Cup in Soccer, Handball, Boxing and athletics and has a small scale interest in Astrology and Relegion. He plays 8-ball and 9-ball rarely, but is/was quite good at it. Loves to swim or go to the beach when it's summer. Marc failed starting at school after summer because of developping Social Phobia, or better known as Social Anxiety. Today, Marc is working his way up in social training and has a job now with his goal of starting in school next summer. However, he still has some time for owning Goldeneye records. Some of his life goals are to learn Spanish, become 100 years old (lol), travel the world and achieving Dam Secret Agent 1:16. Marc claimed this time to be impossible, but eventually realized the magical 1:16 was actually possible. On the 28. January, Marc achieved Dam Secret Agent 1:16 and has only played Runway Agent since then.

Music and Films

Marc has a very wide music taste. He mainly listens to Deep Purple, Rainbow, Pop music from the early 2000's, GZA The Genius, Rakim and various other Hip Hop artists. He also has a love for Latin Jazz music and old school House. Marc is mainly into the movie genres Martial Arts, Gangster films, Spaghetti Westerns and Animated Disney Movies. He likes such movies as Way Of the Dragon, The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, Pulp Fiction, but his absolute favorite movies are Scarface and the animated Disney film from 1981, The Fox And The Hound and wishes to get a tatoo from something in the movie. Some would think that this is a very wierd combination of movie taste. He usually doesn't like crime and detective films, but always enjoys episodes of Columbo.

Shoutouts

Ilari Pekkala - An truly inspiring person. The first i knew about in The Elite and the first person in The Elite i ever met at the Swedish GE meeting 2009. Fun guy, down to earth and an incredible GE player. Illu has a special gift that not many others have. He can be liked by everyone and is one of the kind that doesn't have many enemies. Has the most awesome and interesting Speedrunwiki the community has seen. Quick with video proof and good quality.

Bryan Bosshardt - Probably the person that has most influence on me when it comes to Goldeneye. Joined The Elite very early and kept staying to improve time by time, contributing with a lot of timesavers and strats. Probably the profile that has done most for the GE speedrunning community ever. Also an incredible Perfect Dark player.

David Clemens and Rayan Isran - I don't know what to say. The WR topic speaks for itself. Two amazing GE/PD players. They are really the only ones who are able to achieve exellent times everywhere and dominates almost all stages in the games. Also very willing to help you out with tips and strats.

Henning Blom - Also a pretty awesome Goldeneye player. Played my first Multi Match in Sweden against him. Very fun to chat with. Very nice video quality.

Ryan White - Although his attitude can be wierd, another pretty awesome Goldeneye Player. Can get pretty much any time he wants if he puts time into it and has a thing going for untied records.

Axel Zakrisson - Pretty good Goldeneye Player. Was pretty nice talking to at the swedish meeting aswell. Nice video quality aswell.

Wouter Jansen - Very skillful Goldeneye player. He gets pretty much any time he aims for and i admire how many hours he have put into some of his times and that he doesn't give up. Also enjoyed to read his Speedrunwiki.

Adam Bozon - Very skilled player in the DLTK league. He even beat Train!

Dan Cervone, Glen Stevens, Eddie Lovins - Genius Goldeneye players. They all have pretty god personalities and Eddie kicks ass in Multi.

Henrik Norgren - Great strat developmenter, probably the best TAS player aswell. Always entertaining to watch those.
