Sterling Neblett was the first true King of Goldeneye, having knocked original champion Steven Zwartjes from the top of the charts in late 1997. A fierce battle between the two ensued over the following year, but in the end Sterling came out the victor. He went on to post the most amazing championship reign in Elite history, providing video proof and written strategies to boot. Although they were often difficult to decipher, these strats set the groundwork for nearly all the basic strategies still being employed in the Goldeneye world today. After having his championship streak ended by Wouter Jansen, Sterling briefly moved on to Perfect Dark, where he set some nice early records before going inactive. He has since made a few minor Goldeneye comebacks, but has mainly been devoting his time to his real passion: golf, even appearing on ESPN2 during the Boston Distance Challenge several years ago.
