Fire Temple
The Fire Temple is the fifth dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, although it can be visited out of order. Here is a speed guide for this dungeon. You need Farore's Wind.
Take the left door and meet Darunia. Head across the platforms to open the cell on the far left. The first platform you jump to is just too far to land on, instead, Link pulls himself up by his hands. You can save a small amount of time by doing a jump-attack during this first jump and landing directly on the first platform. You can do this on the way back too. (This is unnecessary or doesn't work elsewhere in this room, just so you know.)
DO NOT talk to the Goron you just freed - never do this, it's a waste of time in all cases. Get Small Key #1 and return to the first room.
Head straight across the room and unlock the door to enter a big room full of lava. Go left around the rim of the room and open the door to rescue another Goron and get Small Key #2. Return to the big room.
Make your way all the way across to the opposite side and bomb the wall. Go through the door and rescue another Goron for Small Key #3.
Head right, around the rim of the big room to unlock the next door.
This room has a pillar of flame in it. Ignore the plank and go right. Hookshot the metal grille as far up as you can and climb the rest of the way. Ignore the two bats, drop down to the platform and push the block onto the pillar of flame. Jump onto it to be taken up to a third locked door.
Go left in the next room, ignore the fire slugs, and jump across to where the diamond switch is. Push the block off the ledge. Jump at a carefully-chosen angle off it to the platform below the metal grille/ladder. Climb over to the platform directly above the diamond switch. Carefully drop a bomb over the edge, then run up to where the fire has just been momentarily switched off. (If you're l33t you can just throw a bomb in the right direction from the higher platform which saves a little time.) Climb up before it switches on again.
This rolling rock room is large and confusing. Go right (south) when you enter it and follow the outer wall to a locked-up Goron and Small Key #4. Cross all the way to the north end of the room to rescue another Goron for Small Key #5. Lastly head for the locked door at the inner rim of the room.
Be very careful crossing this room to the far locked door. Mess it up, and your entire speedrun is down the drain - it'll take you minutes to recover.
Run across all the grille platforms to the other side, to re-enter the rolling rock room on the upper floor. Cast Farore's Wind when you get there.
Jump across to the cracked platform and bomb it. Ignore the gap thus opened; jump across to the nearby switch. Carefully traverse the room to the far end for Small Key #6. Now return and drop down the hole for Small Key #7. Warp back to your warp point and re-enter the fire wall room.
Jump across to the locked door in the middle of the far wall and head through to the next large round room.
Go left and navigate the flame maze to the next locked door. Cast Farore's Wind as soon as you get inside. If you don't have enough magic, don't worry, you'll lose VERY little time: see later. Head across to re-enter to the round room.
Navigate the next flame maze to the switch and then quickly get past the temporarily deactivated firewall. Collect bombs and hearts from the pots if you wish, then bomb the fake door and enter the real one to fight the Flare Dancer.
Each time you Hookshoot the core of the Flare Dancer, back up and do a jump-attack on it before it gets its bearings. Move away when it explodes.
Ascend!
This final enormous room is deadly dangerous. Fall down, and your speedrun is all over. Hit the switch and carefully run around the inner edge to get the Megaton Hammer. Warp back to your warp point. If you didn't have enough magic, just jump into the big hole, aiming left, along the left wall, and do a jump-attack if you can, to land on the side.
Play the Song of Time and hit the rusted switch for Small Key #8. Climb up again to re-enter the big round room.
Whack the spike and fall back to the room where you met Darunia. Do a jump-attack when jumping away from the big spike to save pulling yourself up. Do the same thing on the way back too.
Return to the very first room of the Temple. Hit the three block things to reveal and enter the locked door.
Kill everything to open the next room. Bats can be Hookshot or jump-attacked; a Megaton Hammer hit to the middle of the floor will flip all the fire slugs over and make them vulnerable. Ignore everything in the next room and run through to fight your second Flare Dancer. Ignore the chest. Next room.
Collect the Boss Key. Head to the boss room to fight Volvagia.
