Adam Bozon
History
Adam Bozon started speedrunning on GoldenEye in January 2006 after finding videos of Bryan Bosshardt's Dam Agent 0:53 and Ilari Pekkala's Aztec 00 Agent 1:54 on the Internet. He had done some speedrunning back in 1999 but never had access to videos or world record strats so his times weren't very good. All he had to compete against were PRs that other people, such as Elite members Matthijs ten Ham and Steven Zwartjes, had sent in to Nintendo 64 magazines.
Later in 2006, Ryan Koch added him to his rivalry which helped Adam to get to know some of the other newer improving players such as Axel Zakrisson, Graham Maddocks and Henning Blom who are all still good friends with him today.
The Eliters that he has met are Graham Maddocks and Axel Zakrisson.
Personal Info
Adam lives near Nottingham, England. He is 32 years old and works as a website developer/computer programmer. He still plays GoldenEye and is ranked in the Top 30 but has had more success on the Licence to Kill (LTK) and Dark Licence to Kill (DLTK) settings. He wrote an updater program for the GoldenEye LTK and DLTK rankings and has been updating those since 2008. His favourite levels are Control, Statue and Jungle and most hated levels are Archives, Train and Depot.
He watches a lot of films and has watched nearly all of the IMDb Top 250 and all of the Best Picture Oscar winners. He likes action and thriller films best such as the James Bond and Die Hard films and his top 5 films are Speed, Cool Runnings, 3 Idiots, GoldenEye and Saving Private Ryan. His favourite actors are Jackie Chan, Bruce Willis and Cary Grant and his favourite actresses are Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman and Reese Witherspoon.
His favourite types of computer games are usually adventure/role playing games and racing games. The game franchises that he likes best are Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Zelda, F Zero, Wave Race, Mario Kart and Civilization.
He also plays Scrabble a lot and plays against other Elite members Eddie Lovins and Derek Clark.
When he was younger, he took part in the England Chess trials for his age group and finished equal second and went on to represent England a few times but doesn't play much now.
Normal Mode
He joined the rankings in Spring 2006 when he started to get some better PRs. He managed to get 2:22/2:22/2:21 on Statue which was good enough for 5th place on the Statue leaderboard despite only being ranked about 100th overall at the time. He continued to move up the rankings and got Surface 2 Secret Agent 0:55 to earn his first World Record in November 2006. He has had a few more World Records since then, the best being his 0:37 and 0:36 on Runway 00 Agent using the difficult grenade strat, both of which had been untied for well over a year by Bryan Bosshardt.
Adam is currently ranked in the GoldenEye Top 30 on the World Rankings but has been in the Top 30 several times and is in second place in the UK rankings behind Luke Pettit. He still has a few really bad PRs and even some levels that he has never even watched a video of yet so he should be able to improve his ranking in the future.
He started using control style 1.2 in 2011 and bought an NTSC console in March 2012. Since then he has worked on some of the NTSC advantaged levels, especially those with some of the weaker World Records and has achieved four tied World Records since then. His current normal mode World Records are Dam AG 0:53 and Cradle 00A 0:36.
Although he thinks the 2.x control style should be allowed, he doesn't think you should be allowed to use it to get quicker starts and to do things like shooting the screen during the Depot cinema so therefore continues to use 1.2 on all the 2.x advantaged levels such as Streets.
He is one of the most reliable players for providing proof of his videos and has proven every PR that he has had since early 2007. He has 60/60 proven times on normal mode and is also fully proven on both LTK and DLTK.
Licence to Kill Mode (LTK)
Adam first started playing LTK mode in late 2006 and has completed 20/20 levels. In October 2009, he overtook long time LTK champion Garrett Sellati and has held the #1 ranking ever since. He has held thirteen of the LTK world records and currently holds seven (five untied).
His current LTK world records are Runway 0:44, Silo 2:13, Statue 2:29, Streets 2:59, Train 3:15, Caverns 3:11 and Cradle 0:34.
Dark Licence to Kill Mode (DLTK)
He first started playing DLTK mode in late 2006 and has completed 19/20 levels. In January 2010, he overtook long time DLTK champion Ilari Pekkala and held the #1 ranking for a while until Ilari completed Cradle to regain his #1 ranking. He was then also overtaken by Lloyd Palmer, who was the first player to complete 19/20 levels, but has now regained the #1 ranking after completing Silo in April 2013 and Streets DLTK in January 2014. He has held fifteen of the world records and currently holds eleven (ten untied). This is the mode he likes playing best and has had most success with.
His greatest GoldenEye achievements came in January 2010 when he became the first player to complete Train DLTK and in April 2013 when he became the first player to complete Silo DLTK.
His current DLTK world records are Dam 9:08, Runway 0:43, Surface 1 2:06, Silo 8:31, Bunker 2 6:07, Statue 2:26, Train 29:00, Jungle 13:11, Caverns 8:54, Cradle 0:55 and Egypt 1:19.
Turbo Mode
Adam played this a lot early in 2007 but doesn't enjoy it as much so hasn't played it much since. He holds nine world records, the best being his only untied turbo world record of Runway 00A 0:19, but nobody ever plays this league or updates the rankings any more.
Adam's 5 Favourite PRs
5. Silo LTK 2:13 - This is easily the LTK level I've spent longest on. It's one of the hardest LTK levels to complete even with a safer strat and I'd say it's the hardest LTK level to speedrun on because of all the risks you have to take and the knowledge and practise required to learn exactly where all the guards are going to be which can be completely different depending on how quick you are during the level.
4. Runway 00 Agent 0:36 - This took me 110 hours to get. I had 11 x 0:37s and hundreds of near misses on failed 0:36s. It requires a very underplayed strat that has very little margin for error which takes loads of practise and patience to complete.
3. Caverns DLTK 8:54 (got this twice) - This was easily the DLTK level I'd spent longest on until I completed Silo DLTK. The level is not as difficult to complete as people think because once you're past the first room then the rest isn't that hard if you use a cautious strat but it does get very difficult when you're speedrunning and having to take lots of chances. I remember struggling a bit to beat the 00A 9:30 cheat target time back in 1999 so it was great to beat that on the DLTK setting.
2. Train DLTK 29:00 - This was a level that I thought would never be done. Although it's only a mediocre time because of the cautious strat I used, it's still my second best PR because of the difficulty of the level and being the first proven player to complete it makes it more special. It requires so much practise and concentration because one tiny mistake on the whole level and you're almost certainly dead every time. Also the lack of good hiding places, a few places where you have no choice but to take big risks, random guard positions, unpredictable guards, ammo shortage and nerves unlike anything I've experienced on any other level all add to the difficulty. It took me around 80-85 hours to complete. A more aggressive strat could get around 20 minutes but I don't know if I'd ever want to go for lower.
1. Silo DLTK 8:31 - This was another level that I thought would never be done and was much harder than Train DLTK to complete. It took me about 7.5 months and around 330 hours to complete. There are 63 guards to kill with the strat I used, a difficult time limit and the worst part was having to get three grenades on a run which doesn't happen very often.
Cradle DLTK 0:55 is probably my best time but it's not one of my favourites because the level is nearly all luck.
