King Dodongo

Infernal Dinosaur: King Dodongo is the second boss in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. He has 8 hit points. He is the boss of Dodongo's Cavern.

Speed strategy

See Weapons of OoT for an explanation of why you will be using Deku Sticks (two of them in total) for this battle.

Stand right in front of King Dodongo's mouth, whip out your first bomb when he opens his mouth and lob it in. Get out a Deku Stick and jump-attack him using Z-targeting. Stand aside while he does his roll attack; then repeat. Your second attack should kill him.

Update: there is an equally fast way to kill him without using any Deku Sticks thanks to the Power Crouch Stab and the fact that it won't copy the bomb that King Dodongo eats. Before you enter King Dodongo's chamber (but after you bomb open the entrance) pull out a Deku Stick and do a jump-attack. Don't bother putting it away before entering the boss room. After the cut scene, throw a bomb in his mouth, then use a Power Crouch Stab to hit him for half his life. Remember you can't crouch stab while targeting. While he rolls around, go ahead and pick up a bomb-flower so you don't waste a second bomb. The tactic is the same; throw the bomb-flower at him and execute your second Power Crouch Stab to kill him.
