==Baron Samedi: Positions after spawning==

'''World Record Strat - 0:46 Written by David Clemens'''
+
After each spawn, the Baron constantly faces Bond, much like Valentin/Miskin does.

Begin in left strafe, looking at a normal plane (lookdown doesnt help on this level). Strafe towards the GG room, and make sure not to lag on the pilalr behind you as you do. Also, dont strafe into the wall so much by the GG room door, and try to open it far away. Strafe into the center of the door (so you dont get stuck on it when it opens), and take the correct path through the GG room as tightly as possible, also don't look down here since it lags more I think. I will assume anybody playing for this record knows the right path. When you pick up the Ammo, you can either switch to right strafe or stay in left, it doesn't make a difference really although some players have an easier time switching to right since it gives you a nice angle to open the next door and then switch to left strafe to pick the GG up. If you stayed in left, open the door, switch to right strafe (you probably want to lsoe full speed here, since turning back around is very hard if you kept full speed), then turn around and open the next door.
+
The 2nd Baron spawns facing in the opposite direction of where Bond usually is on wr runs, so he needs to walk around in a half-circle to face Bond. By being to the right of him when he spawns, he will turn to the right since that's the shorter angle to turn through.

For the first Baron, align the center of the screen with around the left side of the pillar, and veer downwards just a little bit. The idea here is to shoot the first Baron as early as you possibly can, though it does not have to be frame perfect. If you miss him, quit out. Now strafe towards the left and , as quickly as possible, face towards where the 2nd baron appears. Stand between the two pillars closest to the wall, and if you dont see the explosion right after you arrive that means the first baron died a bad death, and you more than likely wont have any chance at 46 (thugh can easily get 47). If it doesn't appear within a second of arriving or so, just quit out unless you want a time around 48 (kneeling death first baron). Now wait till the explosion fades, and just as it is about to fade run forward. Right as you are about to go between the two pillars on the opposite side of the room, shoot the 2nd Baron. Do not wait untill you are actually between them. Try to aim just to the right of the far pillar that covers part of the explosion. Now strafe to the right and towards the secret door to the last baron. As the screen darkens if you killed the 2nd baron successfully, you will see it. Open it up as far away as you can, and strafe past it, turn around and nicely enter the hole. If you strafe into the hole right away, theres a good chance you will get stuck on it and lose any chance at 46.
+
Note that the Baron will just spin instantly without walking if he is [[Unloaded movement|unloaded]], so you must also be looking towards that area when the 2nd Baron spawns. The 3rd Baron will always be unloaded unless you get a bad 2nd Baron death animation, and so this only applies to Baron #2.

Now for the last baron, aim at or just below the normal plane of view. As you approach the corner, try to switch to left strafe and huge the wall as much as possible when you turn, as you want to take a very tight turn for 46. Just as the center of the screen is aiming at the center of the cloud of smoke, shoot your GG and hope it hits the last Baron. At first the last Baron will seem like mostly luck, but you will learn later there is indeed a lot of skill to it and you can have 40% or so consistency. Agent is a lot easier, since all you need is a body shot. If you hit him (or even if you didnt, actually), strafe to the left and towards the stairway. If the screen fades around the middle of the stairs, you got a good death and have a good shot at 46. If it fades at the bottom, you won't have any chance. Best deaths dont happen very often, so for that reason 46 may take a while, but keep at it even if you keep getting bad deaths right at the end. Good luck!

Retrieving the Golden Gun requires navigating a floor maze<ref>{{cite web | url=https://forums.the-elite.net/index.php?topic=18518.msg410563#msg410563|title=the-elite form post on the golden gun room|author=Wyst3r|access-date=July 16, 2021}}</ref>, though this has been slightly sidestepped by a consistent tile warp.

== Secret Agent ==
+
The triggers in the GG room are spheres, centred on points on the floor. When Bond is moving at speed he dips slightly, and so the circles that he can't enter are slightly larger. These are shown in the diagrams on the right.

'''WR Strat - 0:46'''
+
Naively, stepping inside any of the circles except the green one triggers the drone guns and you've failed the room. Stepping in the green one opens the glass container and you've succeeded. They have clearly been laid out with the intention of leaving a path of square tiles for the player to find.

If you stayed in left, open the door, switch to right strafe (you probably want to lose full speed here, since turning back around is very hard if you kept full speed), then turn around and open the next door.

=== The 4 cycles ===
 +
However the spheres are actually in '''4 groups''' which are coloured Black, Red, Orange and Purple on the right. Each is only active for 1 in 4 frames - they cycle in that order.

Try to aim just to the right of the far pillar that covers part of the explosion, and aim for his body because on SA/00A you need a body shot to have a chance at killing him.
+
On top of this, the cycling doesn't start until you clear the end of the entrance corridor into the room proper. This coupled with a stable 30hz framerate on NTSC creates the perfect environment to set up a consistent warp.

Now for the last baron, aim at or just above the normal plane of view. As you approach the corner, try to switch to left strafe and huge the wall as much as possible when you turn, as you want to take a very tight turn for 46. Just as the center of the screen is aiming at the center of the cloud of smoke, shoot your GG and hope it hits the last Baron. At first the last Baron will seem like mostly luck, but you will learn later there is indeed a lot of skill to it and you can have 30% or so consistency. On SA/00A you NEED to hit his head to kill him. If you hit him (or even if you didnt, actually), strafe to the left and towards the stairway. If the screen fades around the middle of the stairs, you got a good death and have a good shot at 46. If you missed him, quit at the middle of the stairs and if you quit out a 48 you were at 46 pace. If it fades at the bottom, you won't have any chance. Best deaths dont happen very often, so for that reason 46 may take a while, but keep at it even if you keep getting bad deaths right at the end. Good luck!
+
=== Re-entry ===
 +
If you fail the room, you don't have to redo it from entrance. Instead, nip out into the big room with the 1st Baron, then quickly walk back again (don't fall down), duck, and re-enter the GG room by walking under the closing inner door. Then you can easily enter the Green circle to open the glass box.

+
The consistent tile warp was revealed in [[TASpap]], and involves taking an indirect line from the end of the entrance corridor up to the 1st 'wall' of triggers. This is pictured on the right, with Bond in green.

== 00 Agent ==
+
This line wastes about 1 frame (1/30th of a second) in order to be just outside of the purple circle when it is active. Then you have 4 frames to clear the circle before it activates again. The lag spike from switching weapons makes one of these 4 frames much longer, making it far easier to clear the circle, though it can technically be done without.

Strategy
+
The other secret is to turn left (around the black circle), since this gives you shorter route out of the purple circle and puts you on a better line when you leave.

Begin in either strafe and go straight through the pool room. Turn right once you're out and take as direct of a path as you can to the stair hallway. Open the door going into the Golden Gun room and run against the door in left strafe until it opens, so as to keep full speed. Take the correct tile path (2L, 1U, 3R, 2U, 1L, 1U, 1R, up to the case) as quickly as you can, cutting corners and stuff. I trip the drone guns every once in awhile.
+
=== Further warps ===
 +
The line after this first tile warp is pretty direct to the trigger circle, but hypothetically you could warp the 3rd 'wall' right before the Green success trigger, as Icy does in his [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FtSID9iN10 Egypt Agent 0:41 TAS]. On emulator the framerate fluctuates between 60 and 30fps, and the lag from weapon switches is far greater so the tile warps become a lot easier.

Strafe around the right side of the case, grabbing the bullets. Open the exit door, strafe back and get the gun, then go through the open door. Open the next door while switching to the Golden Gun. Now fall in left strafe, and fire the gun right after you hit the ground, trying to hit Samedi. I hit him with my first shot around 4% of the time. Continue firing from far away if you miss; just know you lost any chance at 0:46. Once he's dead, strafe to the pool room so you can see where he appears, then get as far away as you can while still being able to see him.
+
It's unknown which cycle the room will be on when a player reaches the 3rd 'wall' on console, but a warp through the left-most orange circle could be viable. That said the timesave would be minimal, since the line around the left of the 3rd 'wall' is still pretty direct and sets up the turn around the ammo & gun.

Once he laughs again, you can shoot. It's actually a little before he laughs; play the level a lot to get the timing down. Try to hit him in the body, then immediately start strafing for the secret door. By the time you get there, the level should've darkened and Baron should've laughed again. Go through the secret door and down the drone hallway in left strafe. If you strafe past them, the drones will never hit you. Turn left in left strafe and fire a shot into the middle of the smoke, hoping to hit Samedi. I hit him first try around 20% of the time. If you missed, get closer to see where he is, then fire again. If you hit, make sure he's dying (if not, shoot him again), then wait a few seconds for him to die?
+

 +
===Baron===

00 Agent gives Baron lots of health. A limb shot to kill the first Baron means the second probably won't die on the first shot, and if the second does, the third almost certainly won't. You want body shots for the first and second and a head shot for the third. This is why fewer people have 0:46 on SA and 00 then Agent. Consider it quite an accomplishment to get under 0:50 on 00 Agent!
+
First Baron has 200 health and 200 armor, second Baron has 500 health and 1000 armor, third Baron has 500 health and 3000 armor. When first spawned, they are invincible for 5s. If Baron Samedi is active and you have him at gunpoint, he has a ~50% chance to perform a dodge (hop, roll, run, etc) instead of attacking. <ref name="function explorer misc facts">{{cite web | url=https://forums.the-elite.net/index.php?topic=18518.msg455830#msg455830|title=the-elite Goldeneye facts topic post on miscellaneous function explorer facts|author=Icy|access-date=July 16, 2021}}</ref>

Egypt (Part i of Mission 9: el-Saghira) is the twentieth and final level in GoldenEye 007. The Dot strat is often used on this level. The level is the same across the standard difficulties, except that the later Barons require different body part hits to die to one bullet. The level is bottlenecked by the 1st and 3rd Baron's Death Animations.

Objectives

a. Recover the golden gun
From the Golden gun room, see below.
b. Defeat Baron Samedi?
Each of the 3 incarnations of the Baron must be killed, with his health increasing each time.

Baron Samedi: Positions after spawning

After each spawn, the Baron constantly faces Bond, much like Valentin/Miskin does.

The 2nd Baron spawns facing in the opposite direction of where Bond usually is on wr runs, so he needs to walk around in a half-circle to face Bond. By being to the right of him when he spawns, he will turn to the right since that's the shorter angle to turn through.

Note that the Baron will just spin instantly without walking if he is unloaded, so you must also be looking towards that area when the 2nd Baron spawns. The 3rd Baron will always be unloaded unless you get a bad 2nd Baron death animation, and so this only applies to Baron #2.

The Golden Gun Room

All the trigger circles in the room. Note that only one colour is active on any one frame!

Retrieving the Golden Gun requires navigating a floor maze[1], though this has been slightly sidestepped by a consistent tile warp.

The triggers in the GG room are spheres, centred on points on the floor. When Bond is moving at speed he dips slightly, and so the circles that he can't enter are slightly larger. These are shown in the diagrams on the right.

Naively, stepping inside any of the circles except the green one triggers the drone guns and you've failed the room. Stepping in the green one opens the glass container and you've succeeded. They have clearly been laid out with the intention of leaving a path of square tiles for the player to find.

The 4 cycles

However the spheres are actually in 4 groups which are coloured Black, Red, Orange and Purple on the right. Each is only active for 1 in 4 frames - they cycle in that order.

On top of this, the cycling doesn't start until you clear the end of the entrance corridor into the room proper. This coupled with a stable 30hz framerate on NTSC creates the perfect environment to set up a consistent warp.

Re-entry

If you fail the room, you don't have to redo it from entrance. Instead, nip out into the big room with the 1st Baron, then quickly walk back again (don't fall down), duck, and re-enter the GG room by walking under the closing inner door. Then you can easily enter the Green circle to open the glass box.

Animation showing a successful tile warp

Tile warp

The consistent tile warp was revealed in TASpap, and involves taking an indirect line from the end of the entrance corridor up to the 1st 'wall' of triggers. This is pictured on the right, with Bond in green.

The other secret is to turn left (around the black circle), since this gives you shorter route out of the purple circle and puts you on a better line when you leave.

Further warps

The line after this first tile warp is pretty direct to the trigger circle, but hypothetically you could warp the 3rd 'wall' right before the Green success trigger, as Icy does in his Egypt Agent 0:41 TAS. On emulator the framerate fluctuates between 60 and 30fps, and the lag from weapon switches is far greater so the tile warps become a lot easier.

Technical Details

Baron

First Baron has 200 health and 200 armor, second Baron has 500 health and 1000 armor, third Baron has 500 health and 3000 armor. When first spawned, they are invincible for 5s. If Baron Samedi is active and you have him at gunpoint, he has a ~50% chance to perform a dodge (hop, roll, run, etc) instead of attacking. [2]
