Serious Sam: The First Encounter is an FPS released in March of 2001 by Croteam for the PC. The series continued with Serious Sam: The Second Encounter.

The Speed Demos Archive hosts Serious Sam competition. The current proven World Record for a complete-game SS speedrun on Serious skill is 53 minutes and 50 seconds, achieved by Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore in May of 2005.
