Serious Sam: The Second Encounter is an FPS released in February of 2002 by Croteam for the PC. The series continued with Serious Sam II.

The Speed Demos Archive hosts Serious Sam: SE competition. The current proven World Record for a complete-game SS:SE speedrun on Serious skill is 1 hour, 3 minutes and 31 seconds, achieved by Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore in July of 2005.
Since 2014, Speedrun.com has been the go-to source for Serious Sam Speedrun. The current proven World Records are as follows.
Tourist/Easy difficulty Any% in 46 minutes and 7 seconds by Inv1ve
Normal difficulty Any% in 42 minutes and 34 seconds by Inv1ve
Serious difficulty Any% in 45 minutes and 45 seconds by Inv1ve
Mental difficulty Any% in 45 minutes and 56 seconds by Inv1ve
