Every year in August in France there have been PAL version Championships held for Super Mario Kart on all the 4 modes to decide on the best multiplayer karters. The tournaments have happened since 2002 where they were a French and Swiss Competition to begin with. Later this became a European Championship in 2008, and now with 8 countries competing including a Brazil and USA entry, the Super Mario Kart Championship 2009 is to be the first World Championship for PAL version in August 2009.
