Dry Lagoon is the 2nd stage in the Dark story on Sonic Adventure 2. Rouge is used to play this stage.

Speed Tips

Mission 1

This is a treasure-hunting stage. The general hunting tips apply. The best locations are:

Piece 3: "Under the turtle's face" Glide forward to the small pool, head to the left side, and dive down. There may be a piece there. Easy enough.

Piece 2: "By the giant's chair" See that statue just to your right? That's the giant referred to here. The piece is on the ground, just in front (relative to starting position) of the statue.

Piece 1: "Plants in the shade" And this one's just behind the same statue. Radar starts out green for it.

Mission 2

Get 1 ring from the circle around you. Then run ahead and to the right to the enemies guarding the turtle, and run into them for an intentional hit. This makes the Back ring appear at the starting point. Now run to the brown obelisk (no need to get the rings around it), use the upslope to get a high jump, and try to quick climb on it. Keep climbing until you're level with the 20 box floating in air, jump off and glide through it, then stay in a straight line to land on the far ledge. Run left to get 10 rings, then jump to the ledge that's above start. Get the 20 there, then run off the edge and dive down. Head back to start and tag the Back ring. You'll keep your ring total of 50, but all rings respawn. Your time here should be about 16 seconds.

Now you're going to get the same 50 rings again, but in reverse order. Run to the right side of the starting room, and turn around once you're out of it to climb the main wall (ideally with a quick climb). Jump off once you get to the ledge, jump into the 20, glide in a straight line to the 10, and another straight line to the 20 near the obelisk to finish off.

Mission 3

Start this as in the second half of mission 2 (you can use either side of the room this time). Don't stop at the ledge; go all the way to the top of the wall instead, and do a ledge jump at the top. Now head toward the four metal boxes, and kick them out quickly. This opens the mural so you can dig into it.

Once you emerge, go up to the mystic shrine and hit B. This both raises the door, and creates a warp portal. Run forward once you regain control after the Mystic Melody animation, and when you pass under the rising door, do a full jump to land in the warp. Do a small dive when you regain control from that, but cancel it with a glide before hitting the ground, and rotate the camera around so you can see the Chao. Glide into it for the win!

Mission 5

The best approach to this level is to get all three pieces in the same life.

Again, as in mission 3, you'll start out by climbing the wall. This time you'll stop at the second ledge, just before the top. It has a cross made of boxes, but the middle one is breakable. Glide above it and dive to break it, revealing a spring. Spin around to face the center of the room, and glide forward as soon as you can to get the first piece. The next piece is below you and a bit ahead; learn how far you have to glide to get directly above it and dive down. If you miss the piece, restart.

Now glide to the right, where the turtle is. Bounce off of one enemy then glide through into the other, freeing the turtle. You'll want to put on the Treasure Scope for the last piece, and it'd be nice if you can do it without wasting any time. Since you have to wait for the turtle anyway, why not put it on now? There are 2 ways to do this without having to press A and losing the treasure scope effect: either stand on the turtle as it's moving and get in Y-Y-Y-Y-B, or stand by the edge of the pool, do the same sequence, then run into the pool and have the turtle come up underneath you. Either way, run around a bit once the turtle arrives so that you land on the trigger spot that allows you to move.

Press forward to run off into the water and B to dive, then hit the spring on the underside of the island. Once you bounce, you don't need the Treasure Scope anymore, so keep tapping A to resurface up into the third piece faster and claim your time.

TODO: there are better strats, one version-exclusive to Dreamcast and one version-exclusive to GameCube; write these
