Introduction to Speedrunning

Joris first got introduced to TAS and speedrunning in the early 2010's by RealMyop and Coeurdevandale in their show "#88mph" (later re-named "Speed Game"). Joris discovered The Elite in August 2017 after watching RWhiteGoose's GoldenEye 007 Agent [Any%] Speedrun Tutorial, and was quickly fascinated by The Elite and the ranking system that they used. After watching 2015: A GoldenEye Odyssey, a movie made by Jonathan Hotinski and Daniel Coelho, Joris decided to join The Elite on September 9th 2017. (He already started speedruning Goldeneye Any% before that in early September).

Controversial debuts

Joris' early career had a few ups and downs (mostly downs). He was naturally playing 1.1 control style (which was very uncommon at the time) and refused to learn 1.2. He also had a lot of troubles capturing his runs, for awhile that wasn't a big problem, but once the times he was getting started to worth a few points people pointed out that he needed to capture his runs. Still not knowing how to capture his gameplay, Joris filmed his speedruns on webcam to at least have proof (even if not valid) that he was getting his times.

On November 26th 2017, Joris finally found a way to record his gameplay in good quality and celebrated by improving his Any% personal best to 24:31.

On December 4th 2017, after achieving his first ever World Record, Archives Agent 0:16, Joris' capture card broke.

On December 24th 2017, after achieving Caverns 00A 1:49, Joris' second capture card broke.

Being tired of not being able to capture his runs, Joris continued to speedrun by either posting times with no video or with webcam video (which irritated many people).

At this point rumors about Joris started to spread around, people thought at first that he wasn't a real person or that he was a troll account made by someone else, pleople thought that "Joris Quevedo" didn't sound like the name of a real person, after that people claimed that he was brazilian because his name sounded brazilian, some pleople even claimed that "His gameplay sometimes looks like a good player playing poorer on purpose".

On Januray 30th 2018 Joris got another capture card, and this one was so deficient that it only recorded video for less than an hour and then broke down. But he still managed to get a Bunker 1 00A 1:10 while it was recording, unfortunately the video had no audio (which irritated some people and made the run not passing proof) and the video wasn't cropped, (which irritated even more people). Later that day Irie Butler edited his Surface 2 Agent 0:50 that he just achieved and made a parody version of Joris' Bunker 00A 1:10 and comment. For the next few months Joris continued to play Goldeneye without recording his gameplay, getting most of his times proof called and removed from the rankings.

Facility Agent 0:47

Facility Agent 0:47 with a pillow landing on the television (20 March 2018)

On March 20th 2018, Joris achieved Facility Agent 0:47, but being exhausted by the whole situation and knowing that this time wouldn't be accepted on the rankings because he was recording with a webcam, Joris, in a surge of anger, threw his pillow at his television at the end of the run (nearly destroying his TV), many people laughed at this amazing pillow throw and this video became pretty infamous in The Elite. But something even more amazing about this time is that because Joris' Facility Agent 0:48 proofcall from February was going to be backrolled in March, his Facility Agent 0:48 got backrolled to 0:47 ! This was a mistake quickly corrected by the proof moderator which made some people jokingly asking if they could get their own times backrolled to even better times.

Frozen timespage

On April 1st 2018, Joris achieved Silo 00A 1:37 and 1:33, both recorded with webcam, at the time 1:33 was worth 64 points, he also got Runway SA 0:23 recorded with webcam, a time worth 79 points when achieved, this infuriated many people knowing that the run was recorded with another low quality webcam video. A few days later on April 12th Charlie Yeudall made a video explaining the "Joris problem" and tried to wake him up about this whole situation, later that day The Elite Council decided to freeze Joris' account :

"Council approved the decision to freeze a player's timespage after repeated proof policy violations. This will work on a regular case-by-case basis and once your account is frozen you will be required to post or send an acceptable quality video to be unfrozen. Joris Quevedo is now frozen until he posts an acceptable video to the forums/discord or sends it to a moderator/council member". This freeze lasted from April 12th 2018 to May 28th 2018 (46 days)

Joris' come back

In May 2018 Alka Maass approached Joris and tried to find a way for him to record runs consistently and in acceptable quality, the solution was to buy a GV-USB2 instead of a cheap EasyCap and set up everything with Teamviewer, and after several hours, Joris could finally record his runs in acceptable quality.

Joris came back to The Elite on May 28th 2018 showing that he had achieved his 2nd World Record, Runway Agent 0:22 in good quality, his timepage got unfrozen and he was again able to post his times to the rankings.

On June 13th 2019 Joris achieved the first ever boostless Bunker 2 Agent 0:23, but instead of posting his time, he decided to contact Nikolaj Sørensen (who the day before, publicly announced that he was preparing an unhoard with Charlie Yeudall) and asked if he could be part of the upcoming [k4] unhoard at the time, the people that were hoarding in [k4] accepted and Joris joined the project and started hoarding times for the following 4 months.

On October 19th 2019, Joris Quevedo, along with, Charlie Yeudall, Daniel Coelho, Hayden King, Jonathan Hauptman and Nikolaj Sørensen all unhoarded their times in a +2 hour movie called [k4]

Even if at the time Joris was already known to be a good player capable of getting very solid World Record, he shattered his expectations by getting 7 Personal Best for [k4] (5 of which were World Records).

- Caverns 00A 1:33 - 91 points when achieved

- Depot SA 0:39 - World Record

- Cradle Agent 0:33 - World Record

- Bunker 1 Agent 0:16 - World Record

- Control Agent 3:57 - 92 points when set

- Depot 00A 0:46 - World Record

- Bunker 2 Agent 0:23 - World Record

Contributions to The Elite

Since Joris joined, he has always been one of the more active players, both involved in the competition and the community. He's been very active on the forums, having made hundreds of posts over the months, all filled with various important and interesting informations about times achieved by other players, in January 2020, Joris was rewarded with the title of the "Star Poster of 2019". After proving his skills at reasearching and putting to light various kind of data about the community that had been lost for years, Joris quickly became one of the best contenders to become the new Goldeneye Proof Moderator.

On November 18th 2020, Joris becamed the new Proof Moderator of Goldeneye, replacing Alec M. Also being one of the historians of the elite, Joris has been using his abilities as a Moderator to add dozens of videos and hundreds of times and dates that were missing on both the Goldeneye and Perfect Dark rankings (using TheEliteArchives, a youtube channel created by himself and Dusky, used to reupload any Goldeneye/Perfect Dark speedrunning content that exist, but is missing on the website).
