Grand Theft Auto III is an modern Action game released in October of 2001 by Rockstar North for the Playstation 2. The series continued with Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Speedrun
The Speed Demos Archive hosts GTAIII competition. The current proven World Record for a complete-game GTA speedrun is 1 hour and 16 minutes, achieved by Mihail "SCM" Suraev on January 28th, 2008.
The record for the console version is 1 hour and 43 minutes, achieved by Tim "twoton" Symanczyk on June 28th, 2005.
The 100% completion record is 7 hours and 37 minutes, achieved by Daniel "CannibalK9" Burns on April 3rd, 2007.
