These rankings are criticized among the Goldeneye elite since they fail to take into respect the strength of a World Record.  For example, Jungle A 51 is a very strong World Record, but is worth only 1 MVP second, whereas Frigate 1:08 and Bunker 54, weaker records, are worth 3 MVP seconds.

However, it is a completely objective ranking system and does show you who is contributing the most to lowering the total time, and thus encourages players to lower the total time objectively.  So it still does hold a lot of merit.  No rankings will satisfy everyone's opinion.  The-Elite rankings don't take into account the strength of a WR either.
