Quake II is an FPS released in November of 1997 by id Software for the PC. The series continued with Quake III Arena.

Speedrun

The Speed Demos Archive hosted Quake II competition for a time, but it kind of fizzled out in late 2000. The current proven World Record for a complete-game Q2 speedrun on Hard mode is 19 minutes and 33 seconds, achieved by Maciej "groobo" Maselewski on 2008-11-26, done in 43 segments (one segment per level).
