The current verified [[World Record]] for a 55 segment Tomb Raider speedrun (Playstation version) is 2 hours, 39 minutes, 30 seconds, achieved by Stacy "[[Kitty]]" Corron on March 29th, 2005. This is found on the [[Speed Demos Archive]].

There is also a currently unverified no-pickups 15 segment speedrun of the PC version that is around 2 hours (the final time has not yet been calculated) pending verification to the [[Speed Demos Archive]] on [[Youtube]]. Completed by Shaun "[[MMAN]]" Friend on the 21st February, 2006.

 

Although the PAL version has slower gameplay, unlike a lot of unoptimised games some sort of compensation code has been adding meaning timing is exactly the same between versions despite this. Although there are reports of some copies that don't have this.
