The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is an action/RPG for the Nintendo 64, released in October of 2000 by Nintendo. It is the sixth game in the Legend of Zelda series, and the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Speed Runs
Speed runs of Majora's Mask are handled by The SDA and can be found here.
Time travel and the manipulation of time is a major theme of Majora's Mask. In particular, the game has its own clock, which naturally gives rise to two ways of timing a speed run - according to the game clock, and using real time.
Real time runs
The best real-time run, start to finish, of Majora's Mask is a time 1:49:33 by Steven Brown completed on March 12, 2010.
The best real-time 100% run is one of obtained by Peter Branam-Lefkove on August 5, 2005.
Game time runs
The player has to reset the clock back to the start of Day One at least every 72 game hours. This is required at least once as it is impossible to recover the Ocarina until almost the end of Day Three. However, it is possible to beat the rest of the game in the course of the next three-day cycle, without going back in time.
The best second-cycle completion, judged by the time shown on the game clock when the player reaches the entrance to the Clock Tower having completed all four dungeons, is 8:32pm on Day Two, achieved by Peter Branam-Lefkove on April 18, 2004. (The Clock Tower itself does not open up until midnight on Day Three, regardless of circumstances.)
Sub-games
Majora's Mask has a clutch of sub-games. The Nintendo 64 High Scores Site is the primary site for finding top times for these challenges. See here for the records.
- Town Archery
- Swamp Archery
- Horseback Archery
- Witch Archery
- Goron Races
- Beaver Races
- Gorman Track
- Deku Scrub Games
- Honey and Darling Games
- Treasure Chest Game
- Island Jumping
- Ghost Killing
N64HS also records records for two very easily-maxed records, namely "Game Overs to finish game" (maxed at 0) and "Completed Heart Containers" (maxed at 20).
