On the Elite message boards, Dan is infamous for asking a pressing question in one of his more classic topic titles:  "Remember when the Elite used to be cool?"  The only text of his response, "I don't.", pretty well sums up his lifelong relationship with the community.

On January 23rd 2015, following a change in the Proof Policy regarding current unproven World Records, and almost 12 years after Dan claimed the 0:53, the most controversial record in Goldeneye speedrunning history was finally taken down from the rankings and backrolled to 0:54.
