Contra III: The Alien Wars is a sidescrolling Shooter released in April of 1992 by Konami for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. The series began with Contra and continued with many other titles.

Speed Runs

The Speed Demos Archive hosts Contra III competition. The current proven World Record for a complete-game CIII speedrun is 16 minutes and 7 seconds, achieved by Josh Styger on December 14th, 2007.

New Record achieved funny thing is, Daniel James Toska Here who is typing this or my alias God Of Rukario, I did not know things were cut to make the record 16:07 I played through the entire game and achieved the final boss to die at 15:59 now cutting that shorter due to the cutscenes and all LOL I was like freaking hell I believe someone said my time was 15:11 if you'd like to check for sure or not watch my runs on youtube first is me beating the record with cutscenes same for the second but I beat my first as well so there is now proof I officially hold the world record till someone tells me otherwise lol

Speed Run Strategies

Toskas aka God of Rukarios strategy

level 1 - basically continue holding foward always blow up the car immediately after hit the second weapon container floating by for a shield quickly let the diagonal fall and kill the blue guy throwing grenades or whatever you wish to call them. After this you will be treated to two splashers, hold diagonal at the first and continue the swap while avoiding enemies and all doubling up is key to beating this game fast the X button what I do my finger is curved and pointing downward facing left, let your finger slide up and down quickly in this position to swap quickly practice it and you'll eventually get it. now on to the next parts just know Ill be swapping almost at all times so when I say double it up you know what to do your thumb should control holding the shoot and be able to jump as well with the finger curved by the way with your left hand too don't do it with your left or you'll just look silly >.> XD. now double up until you see the next weapon container stop now these are homing missiles and they are terrible for this game in my opinion. Wait for the second to come this is a lazer swap one of your two splahers with the lazer and double up and right when you see a yellow building with two unbroken windows turn back really quick fire and foward again still doubling up now get your splasher set to be the main weapon after passing the yellow building wait about 2 seconds and once you see the top of the next building should be like a playhouse in a tree lol XD jump and switch and fire right at the moment you touch your highest peak the lazer will take out the safety guard as I call him lol and that will blow up continue and make a few jumps over the next set of bleacher looking lines lol and get to the top and drop down to the lowest part on the far right jump fire and kill the red dude on top of the big giant green building with the red center. shot at the guns while doubling up and they will both die once this happens either jump and shoot downward or jump foward and shoot backward and foward while doubling up then take out the red center while doubling up. Continue this all the way to the tank YEAH BABY A TANK no need to dodge anything here just roll that baby to the next green building with the red center and you'll f*** its day up lol. jump out after the fire and kill the blue guy on top if yah want you don't really have to. but make sure you get to the building before it completely goes down and keep running foward and doubling up you'll see your friend a nice little turrent trying to block your way just jump it when you are close to being touching the gun. shoot diagonally till you get a shield its the third weapon tank. once you have it just keep going foward and run through the upward flames another weapon tank will come by after this its a lazer but I forgot to mention the crush missile after the turrent once you jump it grab that weapon tank thats a crush missile and swap it for your other splasher now do what I said about the shield. after you are past the upward flames a building will callapse IS IT SANTA nah its just some asshole trying to screw up your day get behind the building as it collapses stay close to it but not too close and double up on its ass it will be take down easily if done correctly. after this you'll be treated to more weapon tanks see isn't it great how much they give yah!? skip the first more shitty homing missiles >.> but you want the second like grandmas cookies so yeah grab that bad boy its another crush missile hell YEAH!swap it with the lazer now you have the most powerful combo in the game WOO HOO now continue foward and just wait on top of the platforms here don't stay on the ground cause it will ruin your day if you do keep continuing foward and you'll have to climb a wall woo wall or just jump high enough so he flips over it, (no wonder they chose this guy to save a planet full of aliens hes a beast). Now you will see some boiling balls (hey what Im I supposed to call them lol) just right when your about 4 inches from the boiling pot of balls lol use a bomb and continue foward you'll see a big red ball next just jump wait and jump over it then you'll see another set of them lol this time if you were fast enough just jump back jump and keep foward and you will be able to jump the on comming gushers with no trouble and constantly still moving if not just wait for them to drop the rest is self explanatory lets jst get to the boss lol. actually there is a quick method shorter method and really long method. The short all you do is stand right on his hand and double up onto the big red spot you see with both crush missiles there is a chance you'll kill him no death and quick time you can also stay at the far left double up and manage to kill him in only using one jump or if he stretches his neck which pisses me off >.> you can do the same but having to use about 3 jumps.

level 2 - simple begin in the top left corner when game starts double up crush missiles on the first guy he'll die just continue in the other direction vertically do the same with the next guy if he stays in his hole double up in from of it then hold b behind him he'll die yet again now go to the middle same here same for the top and same for the right congrats thats level 2 its really simple if you double up uh OH BOSS. nah hes easy if you still got the crush missiles basically all you do is walk backwards a bit as soon as screen starts hold L for 2 and a half seconds release a double crush missile as he falls close to showing his weal point then do it again follow with the r button to follow his walk double up on it again and there you go dead!

level 3 - not much to say really in the beginning just get good at dodging pretty much you can either shoot the roll turrents when they decide to come out or just jump most but do not jump the third you'll get shot by mr red sniper up (what an ass he is) continue foward and you'll be treated to more turrents woo woo kill them all and after the third is killed shoot to the right doubling up making sure to kill the other red dude. then you'll be up to the buggy part yeah the bugs lol just double up what weapons you have if you still have them if not, just diagonally shoot the pea shooter if one grabs you do this all the way till you get to this asshole the banger as I call him or as friends say to me the tea bagger LOL basically as soon as he appears quarter from the screen use a bomb and drop down and double the fucking hell out of him if not just continue to hit his weap point for mass damage nah just kidding but it makes sense you get the idea . Now the next part when he goes down isn't too bad just stay to the fra right shoot the 3 on comming missiles grab the first weapon tank crush missiles if you do not have them for get the other its a splasher >.> now go up the wall everytime his leg moves so what you wanna do is stay in the middle and a bit more up a bit everytime his leg moves move up to hand movements of the character the missiles will always miss if done correctly after that he will form the tea bagger LOl stay at the top and as he is trying to come foward move down and shoot his red point you should know what to do from here cause its the same all the way through next part going up the wall either use a bomb or avoid the oncomming bullets that will pound you next you'll be treated to a lazer if you only got pea shooter get it or even if you got crush missiles get rid of that pea shooter get the lazer this guy is simple stay at the left he will drop bombs once the last bomb is done stay a little to the right of his closed eye and shoot up and right before his eye is about to pass you move a little more to the right everytime hes simple next part grab the weapon tank and get the shield run foward and continue shoot the door down and your in the next part basically shoot out as many cicle turrents as you can while avoiding those green alien shits on your left and right going up and get your way to the upper level. now to the right is going to be the final roomgo in and avoid the weapon tank NOOOOOOO MORE HOMING MISSILES LOL climb the wall when you get in to the far left and stay in the left corn and shoot diagonally at both these guys but, try to take out mr happy first or the red guy LOl they will die and then form little happys AWW AREN'T THEY CUTE NO BLAST THOSE f***ers and stay on top or they will kill you LOL next part looks like terminator to me basically as soon as he starts shoot the shit out of his head staying in the middle and shooting upward once he shoots lazers climb the wall shoot the top while on the top ceiling and into his head until the lazers get to close then drop down and repeat step one "WARNING" if you do not kill him here he will spread fire quickly you have to climb around the room quickly to avoid this and you'll eventually kill him so you get the drill.

level 4 - eh not much to say everything is oncomming and I recommend your own strategies for this one its all about dodge and shooting all the enemies here while moving so yeah once you got your own pattern down this will be simple the boss take out his top gun and bottom gun then shoot the big red hard to miss center but avoiding falling off the missiles thats why I say make your own strategy lol.

level 5- start in top left corner yet again kill the bilue pod sprouting spiders continue down the long narrow path all the way to the next pod I should have to tell you to double up on these it should be obvious by now . after that one keep following up and you wll see a bridge go accross you'll now be in the spinny circle world LOL ass you spin double click and hold L right before you land on the spider pods aiming point this is crucial cause you need to do this with the boss as well. Now continue holding and keep pressing foward and go to the next pod then the next where you see a set of double gray walls BOSS TIME. here all you do is shoot the eye when it is open and avoid the homing claw and the homing fire it shoots after some shots to the eye the room will spin double click l again right before you land the hitpoint facing the eye and blast the shit out of it continue until it dies YAY WE BEAT IT!

level 6 - if you don't have crush missiles in the beginning this may take awhile to get down basically in the beginning first weapon tank is a bomb get it other is a splasher if you have C and L forget it if you have empty and C get it and same way around keep in front of the alien thing to make this easier before the fight starts tap the button foward till he is just standing on the edge and double it up on him while he opens his mouth keep with it until he dies now keep with it the same through the next part the next weapon tank is a C so if you have one C get it if you have 2 Forget it if you have none GET IT NO MATTER WHAT UNLESS YOU HAVE TWO ALREADY shoot the face looking things or they will shoot enemies making it harder for you to do without dieing alot once you get to the fleshy area you will be treated to another splasher if you got 2 C's no do not touch it if you have lazer and one C NO NO NO only if you have an empty slot use a bomb here to clear the enemies and shoot at the heart you can destroy the pds also so if need be do that cause then the heart cannot attack you. after you're gonna fight another boss lol get the bomb and you decide whether you need the lazer or not =p you know how by now avoid his crawl when he comes then get right up in that bitches face use a bomb right before the lid opens to reveal neo's face and blast that mother F***er doubling up if not killed in the first round you should be able to do it with 2 maybe three with pea shooter not sure not really use the pea shooter lol next looks like a ridley rip off theres a crush missile here also just letting you know =P avoid as soon as he appears move down and aim diagonally at his head with doubling up crush missiles and whatever else you have if he comes a second and third time do the same thing he will eventually do something else where he warps once he warps walk down and keep going till he appears then repeat step one until he dies DUN DUN DUN MOTHER BRAIN OR Really Weird ass enemy XD basically your goal is to shoot the brain thats it work your own strategy with this one as well cause mine is only with crush missiles i stay at far left shoot out the first small head jump shoot the brain diagonally and thats how you do it till it dies the quick way. after it dies you will be treated to the ahole of bosses you wanna tray to land the blue ball or the red ball if you are beginner if not do blue and gray those are the best choices and then just double the shit out of the brain for as many forms as he makes till he dies easy and normal mode do not have the final boss but fun fact the japanese version on normal you can fight the final boss LOL MEAN peoples. basically you use a bomb if you have once and just shoot downward as much as you can until he dies and double up if you can AND THEN THE END OF THE STORY COMES so thats my strategy for you guys out there have fun with it and good luck beating your games!
