DL would begin what is called the "Cleansing" period, which is attempting to get all remaning veteran gamers together and reunite. As you have clearly seen, over the past few years the new generation of gamers has stepped forward.
However, DL would not quit just because almost everyone else has. DL would continue to get the last 5championships needed to reach 50 total, and then continue on in the competitive world.
In early April, there were rumours about DL returning to the Playstation Network, but at this point it is not confirmed.
