The '''2008 Elite Summer Contest''' was known as ''New Blood Rising''. 2008 differed from the previous four [[Elite Summer Contest]]s in that:
* Contestants were not ranked by seeds.
* Four Divisions gave the new generation a great opportunity to make the field.
* Randomly-placed matchups disallowed vote rallying.
The Contest kicked off on '''Friday, June 1st of 2007'''. To vote, Eliters sent the name of their daily choice to [[Ngamer]] over AOL Instant Messenger at '''ImNgamer''', or mailed their choice to '''ngamer AT gmail DOT com'''. To be eligable to vote, one of four conditions had to be met:
* Membership in the [[Goldeneye]] or [[Perfect Dark]] Elites.
* Membership in [[TimeSplitters 2]], [[Super Smash Bros. Melee]], or any other [[NGC-Elites]] ranking.
* 100 posts on [[The Elite]] message boards.
* 20 hours logged in [http://the-elite.net/chat.html The Elite Chatroom].
Those not sure of their eligability contacted Ngamer about their official status.
