This article is about the weapon from [[Perfect Dark]].
The Tranquilizer is a pistol-like dermal injection device that is capable of delivering sedatives to its targets at long range. It holds eight shots in a round egg-shaped magazine and fires accurately and with no fire rate limit. On solo mode, it takes three hits from the Tranquilizer - anywhere on the body - to knock an enemy unconscious. On multiplayer, or if Jo is hit by one in solo mode, the Tranquilizer causes the screen to blur horribly for a long time, sometimes several minutes. There is no "three shot limit" in this case; rather, the screen will just get blurrier, and for longer, every time you take a hit.
The secondary mode is a close-up "lethal injection" that drains half of the weapon's reservoir per use. This function kills instantly both in multi and solo.
There is some debate at to the nature of the Tranquilizer's projectiles. Some believe that they are tiny darts, while others assert that it fires small liquid-filled pellets, similar to paintballs but much smaller. The weapon leaves neither bullet holes nor spent darts in walls, and its victims do not bleed.
